Digital Image License

This Digital Image License applies to digital images purchased through the Rappahannock Reflections store or delivered as part of a paid photography session, unless a separate signed agreement states otherwise.
By purchasing, downloading, or using digital images, you agree to this Digital Image License.
Copyright Ownership
Rappahannock Reflections retains copyright ownership of all images unless a separate signed written agreement states otherwise.
Purchasing or receiving digital images does not transfer copyright ownership.
Personal Use License
For personal-use clients, Rappahannock Reflections grants a lifetime, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use purchased or delivered digital images for personal use.
Permitted personal uses include:
- Printing images for personal use
- Sharing images with family and friends
- Posting images on personal social media accounts
- Using images for personal announcements, invitations, graduation posts, sports profiles, holiday cards, gifts, and similar personal purposes
- Downloading images in available resolutions through the gallery
Photo credit is appreciated but not required.
Editing Restrictions
Light cropping and minor adjustments for personal display are allowed.
Heavy edits, filters, AI edits, color changes, face or body alterations, removal of people or objects, and other material changes are not allowed without written permission from Rappahannock Reflections.
Watermarks
Watermarks may only be removed by Rappahannock Reflections.
Clients may not remove, crop out, cover, alter, blur, erase, or tamper with watermarks in any way.
Any attempt to remove or bypass a watermark without permission may be treated as unauthorized use.
Screenshots
Screenshots are strictly prohibited.
This applies even when an image is watermarked, visible in a proof gallery, visible in a preview gallery, or available for viewing but not yet purchased.
Commercial and Business Use
Personal-use clients may not use images for business, advertising, marketing, paid promotion, resale, licensing, merchandise, sponsorships, publications, contests, political use, or commercial purposes without written permission from Rappahannock Reflections.
Business, commercial, organizational, school, team, sponsor, and event clients may receive different or broader rights only through a signed written agreement.
If a signed business or commercial agreement gives different rights than this Digital Image License, the signed agreement controls.
AI Use
Images may not be used for AI training, AI datasets, image generation, face generation, model training, deepfake creation, synthetic media creation, or similar AI-related purposes by any person or platform without written permission.
Rappahannock Reflections or its direct client may use images with AI tools only when permitted in writing and only with the written permission of all pictured individuals when required.
Prohibited Uses
Digital images may not be:
- Sold or resold
- Sublicensed
- Transferred as stock photography
- Used for commercial purposes without written permission
- Entered into contests without written permission
- Used in advertising without written permission
- Used in a misleading, defamatory, unlawful, or harmful way
- Altered in a way that misrepresents the original image or photographer
- Used to train AI or generate AI images without written permission
- Shared in a way that allows others to download, steal, edit, or misuse the image
Final Sale
Digital downloads are final sale once purchased, delivered, or made available for download.
